Schreibwettbewerb in Englisch

Max, where are you?

Dear readers, I want to tell you a story about Christmas (ugh) and friendship, but first you should know who I am. My name is Grinch, I am and I live green creature, and with my loyal dog Max quite alone in a Cave high up in the mountains, and that’s the reason for it: The people down in the valley don’t like me and they and laugh at me because I’m different from them.

And do you know, what I’ve hated the most ever since – CHRISTMAS: lights, songs, presents, happy families – YUCK!!! But now I’m finally starting my story.

When I woke up on a Christmas morning, I thought ‘Christmas, already again. I hope it will be

Over soon!’

“Hey, Max,” I called, “where is my coffee?”

Silence… “Max, where are you? No jokes this morning.”

The cave was terribly quiet. I looked for my dog everywhere, behind boxes, under covers, I called for him even outside, but my little and only friend had disappeared. Without him the cave felt empty and Christmas was even worse than before.

I started to cry, when I heard a noise. What a joy! Max was standing in front of the door. He was carrying a large white pillow.

“Max? Where have you been?”

I was so happy. Max put the pillow in my lap. There was a photo of the two of us on it and some words:

Merry Christmas. You are not alone.

At first I wanted to throw the pillow away, MERRY CHRISTMAS, that’s out of question, but

then my heart suddenly felt… warm.

I pulled Max in my arms and whispered: “You’re right, Max, I’m not alone, I have the best friend in the world.”

That evening we slept side by side on our new pillow.
